Why Amary?

We are Amy and Andriana—best friends of 20 years who believe that beautiful, historic places have the power to change your perspective. We built Amary because the perfect retreat isn't about becoming someone new. It's about coming home to yourself. We’ve spent years dreaming up this exact experience, and we have designed every detail to feel spacious and welcoming.

Hosted at the boutique Hôtel Les Messugues, our home for five nights is nestled among the historic olive groves and vineyards of the French Riviera.

Every day has a theme, a practice, and something to discover. Some days you move. Some days you rest. Some days you explore. And every evening, you eat well with people who get it.

No one's trying to transform you. No one's performing. It's just good yoga, real rest, and the light of the Côte d'Azur.

Only 12–15 spaces available to keep our group truly intimate.

Amy

Yoga Teacher & Hotpod Yoga Studio Founder

Amy is a yoga teacher and the founder of Hotpod Yoga Barnsley. In a previous life, she spent over a decade as a British diplomat working on human rights and global health. Her Vinyasa-focused classes are inclusive and curious — no perfection, no extremes, just movement and space to rest and grow. After discovering Hotpod, Amy trained as a teacher and hasn't looked back. She's bringing the studio to Barnsley in 2026 — and the occasional retreat to the south of France.

Andriana Matsangou

Andriana

Communications Specialist

Andriana works in sustainability communications and lives on the Côte d'Azur. Obsessed with exploring new places, seaside yoga flows, and drinking great wine, she believes that a beautiful place changes everything. Andriana is our trusty local guide and curator of our Riviera adventures, hand-picking the hidden gems, vineyards, and coastal paths that give this trip its magic. When she's not working on Amary, you'll find her beachside with a book and a chilled glass of rosé.

FAQ & Details

Everything you need to know about the practice, logistics, and policies.

Yoga & Practice FAQ

I'm not an advanced yogi. Can I come? +

Absolutely. This retreat is designed for people with a regular or semi-regular yoga practice who are curious about going deeper. You're not a beginner, but you're not a pretzel either — and that's exactly who this is for. No performance. No pressure. Just good yoga and real rest.

What if I have an injury or physical limitation? +

Tell us when you book. Amy can modify poses and will guide you safely. We're not here to push through pain - we're here to help you practice in a way that feels good.

Can I skip classes? +

Yes. If you want to sleep in instead of morning yoga, or skip a workshop to read by the pool, that's completely fine. This is your retreat. You choose.

How is Amary different from other yoga retreats? +

We do things differently here:

  • It's small: 12–15 people, not 50+
  • It's led by real people: Two best friends, not a corporation
  • It's balanced: Yoga + rest + exploration, not yoga every waking hour
  • It's in a real place: A beautiful hotel surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, not a purpose-built retreat centre
  • It's honest: We don't promise to transform you. We promise good yoga, real rest, and five days in a place that matters
  • The friendship is visible: That 20-year bond is your guarantee of care
Can I join if I'm pregnant? +

Yes, but only in line with your doctor's advice. You should already have prior experience with yoga and a good understanding of how you should adapt your practice in line with your pregnancy. Please also be aware that there may be circumstances where it may not be suitable for you to participate (for example, warm weather is an important factor to consider).

Travel & Logistics FAQ

How do I get there? +

You can travel by air or train to Nice (Nice Côte d’Azur Airport or Nice-Ville train station), which is approximately a 40-minute drive from the hotel. To make your onward travel as seamless as possible, we are happy to help coordinate shared taxis among guests. Alternatively, renting a car or booking private transfers are also great options.

Do I need travel insurance? +

Yes. You are required to hold comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. This is mandatory to protect your investment, as the deposit is non-refundable and final payments are subject to our cancellation timeline. Your policy should cover trip cancellation (including for medical reasons or unforeseen circumstances like force majeure), medical emergencies during your stay, and travel disruptions (such as flight or train cancellations).

Do I need to speak French? +

No. All yoga sessions and workshops will be in English, and English is widely spoken at the hotel and around Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Your trusty guide Andriana will be there to help out when you need, but learning a few basic French phrases always adds to the adventure!

Can I extend my stay? +

Yes, subject to room availability. We can help arrange the extra nights for you.

What should I pack? +
  • Yoga clothes
  • Comfortable everyday clothes - or dress up however you fancy!
  • Shoes you can comfortably walk in
  • Swimsuit and sunscreen
  • Books, journals or anything else to help you wind down

Yoga mats and equipment will be provided by us. The hotel provides towels, toiletries, hair dryers and air conditioning in all rooms.

What's the weather like in May? +

Beautiful. Typically 20–24°C, sunny, with an occasional breeze. Warm enough for the pool. Rain is rare in May. Bring layers for cooler evenings, but mostly you'll be warm.

Is the retreat accessible? +

The hotel has some stairs, and the old medieval town of Saint-Paul-de-Vence has steep, narrow, and uneven cobblestone paths. Contact us if you have specific mobility concerns and we can discuss accommodations.

Booking & Community FAQ

Can I travel solo? +

Absolutely. You can book a private room for total solitude, or ask to be paired with another guest in a shared twin room. Either way, you're a welcomed part of the community.

What's your cancellation policy? +

We understand that plans can change. Because we are reserving hotel rooms on your behalf, our policy is aligned with the venue's guidelines. All cancellations must be made in writing to hello@amaryyogaretreats.com.

  • Deposit (£400): Non-refundable upon booking.
  • Cancellation by 31 January 2027: Deposit is retained, remaining amount is refunded to you.
  • Cancellation from 1 February 2027 onwards: 100% non-refundable.

You are required to hold comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.

What if I have dietary requirements? +

Tell us when you book. The hotel restaurant creates fresh, beautiful, local dishes that can be made vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free. We know that food is an important part of any travel experience, and we want to ensure you feel completely nourished, satisfied, and included at every single meal.

Where can I read the Terms & Conditions? +

You can read our full Terms & Conditions — including booking, payment, cancellation, and liability information — on our dedicated Terms & Conditions page. By submitting a booking form you confirm that you have read and agreed to these terms.

Ready to join us, or have questions?

We'd love to hear from you. Fill out the booking registration form, or drop us a line directly. We are here to make this process as easy and warm as possible.
